As most of you know, last year there was a heated debate about the closing of Valley Race Park to enhance the points at the Gulf. Here is a breakdown of how this has all panned out for the last pay period. Points paid were $70 and change.
Corpus Weekly Simulcast added $7006
Valley Weekly Simulcast added $3556
Valley Escrow added $4343
Total $14905
There were 964 points paid for the week which works out to $15.46 added to the Gulfs points this week. Only about $8 dollars a point came from the Valley and the escrow account will run out sometime in Oct. This being said I ask the question again. Was this worth closing a $40 a point track, putting many people out of work, forcing owners with less options where to send the lesser competitive dogs ect???? I got all this information from the Gulfs web site under kennel standings. Leon

Clearly not.
I do remember during that debate MANY saying the advocates wanted the closing PURELY for GREED.

Looks like their greed got them an extra $8 a point, cost hundreds of people a job in a bad economy, and took away a very nice lesser track for owners to send their slower hounds to.

Some of the recent idiocy in the industry just keeps never ceasing to amaze me!

Stretch,

Did you calculate the missing Global simulcast agreement monies with the Horse tracks and and extra card add? Just curious how that would make a difference. Also how much is a Texas Bred win pay today compared to before the decision not to re-open Corpus and the Valley?

There is no missing money. The TGA cross-species money added this week was $27,477.61 That all comes from the Global simulcast agreement with the horse tracks.

Van, I wouldn't own a Texas bred greyhound. If I had one I would give it away. There is no missing money, they got a 30 day extension on the last simulcast agreement and have yet to get a new deal. Leon

Van, the added card was part of the deal, that extra card are the racing days for Corpus to be able to simulcast. An extra card means more added simulcast money to the points. No matter what a Texas bred is paying was it worth all of the jobs that were lost???
